The engineering team plays a critical role in ensuring operational excellence, adhering to stringent quality and safety standards. Key responsibilities for these positions broadly encompass control, monitoring, and recording activities essential for pharmaceutical manufacturing. This includes:

  • Monitoring and executing maintenance for utility and production equipment, alongside reviewing planned preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Providing and maintaining critical service systems such as potable water, steam, compressed air, and vacuum.
  • Managing and updating HVAC systems, developing plant layouts, and planning for new facilities or equipment replacement.
  • Ensuring all engineering SOPs and related documents are reviewed and updated in collaboration with quality assurance.
  • Overseeing process validations, calibrations, and qualifications for all equipment, ensuring accurate recording and reporting.
  • Strict adherence to current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and active participation in the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of Quality Management Systems (QMS), including involvement in deviation, change control, risk assessments, and CAPA.
  • Maintaining high standards of safety, health, and environment, monitoring machine operations safely, and ensuring plant hygiene.
  • Identifying and implementing energy and water-saving projects, diagnosing consumption exceptions, and conducting staff awareness programs.
  • Managing administrative tasks such as identifying areas of wastage and work simplification, coordinating with contractors, and handling staff training and disciplinary matters.

For the **Mechanical Engineer – OSD Formulation** role, candidates should possess a B.E/B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 2 years of experience in an OSD Formulation Plant.

A specific opening for an **Officer-level Mechanical Engineer** is available within the Engineering Department at an API Manufacturing Site, reporting to the Engineering Manager / Mechanical.

1. Role Purpose

To ensure smooth, safe, and efficient operation of all mechanical equipment in the API plant through preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance. The role supports continuous improvement initiatives, equipment reliability enhancement, and compliance with regulatory standards.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of all mechanical equipment such as Reactors, centrifuges, dryers, condensers, Pumps, agitators, heat exchangers, and utility equipment (chillers, cooling towers, boilers, air compressors).
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical breakdowns to minimize downtime.
  • Monitor equipment health through condition monitoring techniques (vibration, noise, temperature, alignment).

B. Installation & Commissioning

  • Assist in installation, testing, and commissioning of new equipment and machinery.
  • Ensure adherence to engineering design specifications and safety standards.

C. Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate maintenance records in SAP/CMMS.
  • Prepare and update SOPs, checklists, maintenance logs.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, cGMP, safety norms, and audit requirements (USFDA, MHRA, WHO).

D. Process & Reliability Improvement

  • Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) for repeated equipment failures.
  • Implement improvement projects to enhance equipment reliability and energy efficiency.
  • Support Engineering CAPEX and OPEX planning.

E. Safety & Good Engineering Practices

  • Ensure strict adherence to engineering and safety procedures.
  • Participate in HAZOP, risk assessment, and safety audits.
  • Coordinate with production, quality, EHS, and external vendors for smooth operations.

3. Qualification & Experience

  • B.E./B.Tech/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
  • 14 years of experience in Mechanical Maintenance within API/Pharma/Chemical industry.
  • Hands-on experience with rotating and static equipment.

4. Technical Skills Required

  • Knowledge of API plant equipment: reactors, centrifuges, dryers, utilities.
  • Understanding of GMP/CGMP standards.
  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance systems.
  • Hands-on experience in pump maintenance, alignment, sealing systems.
  • SAP/CMMS working knowledge (preferred).
